PHANTOM THIEF AU

"A phantom thief usually has inherited wealth and is characterised by impeccable manners, charm, courteousness, and the avoidance of physical force or intimidation to steal. As such, they do not steal to gain material wealth but for the thrill of the act itself, often combined in fiction with correcting a moral wrong, selecting wealthy targets, or stealing only particular rare or challenging objects. In fictional works, the phantom thief is typically superb at stealing while maintaining a gentleman's manners and code of honour"

[Ignis catches the keys effortlessly, smiling broadly before he circles the car to slide into the driver's seat, smooth and easy. He doesn't hesitate in starting the engine, the steady purr beneath the hood equal parts familiar and invigorating, but he doesn't take off just yet. Time is at a premium, but the adrenaline is still running high, and he leans over as Steven settles into the seat beside him, sealing his lips over his partner's.

The rush of a successful heist was as inspiring as it was addictive.]

Strap in.

[ they've done this enough times for steven to expect the kiss that comes - it's returned in full with a gentle caress from his jawline down his neck. he lingers for a moment, but nods as he pulls away. time is still of the essence, and they can pick this up when they're back at home. a successful heist calls for celebration.

he straps in as instructed, laying his hand over ignis' on the gear shift as one more gesture as thanks before they speed away. ]

[That brush of Steven's fingers makes his heart beat against his chest the way it always does, but he knows that's all they can allow themselves for now. Time is at a premium, and he smiles knowingly as he pulls away, facing forward as the car takes off at full speed under his direction.]

We just keep getting better, don't we?

[Each heist was smoother than the last. They would need to up the stakes soon, if they wanted it to be a challenge.]

They say practice makes perfect. I for one am impressed with our progress.

[ it's said as he reaches towards the back seat of the car, pulling out a briefcase to slip the sapphire into.

it isn't as if they have to steal for their livelihood - they do this for the thrill and moral statement that it makes to their deserving targets. but it's true that they do need to find something a bit more interesting, lest they get bored of it all. ]

[As if there was ever any doubt that they would handle this business with anything but excellence and aplomb. They were both perfectionists, both incredibly sharp learners and quick on their feet-- they had taken to thievery quite well, and Ignis was only mildly surprised by how well it seemed to suit the both of them, considering most would have labeled them as the bookish types.]

Neither of us has ever been much for half-measures, of course.

Perish the thought.

[ it's that ease that others have in putting labels on them that has kept them under the radar thusfar. who would suspect two respectable gentlemen of being the masterminds behind numerous high-scale thefts? it's a cover that's as natural as breathing for them. ]

Any ideas in mind for our next location?

[It's worked out remarkably for the both of them so far-- none have given either of them the slightest thought in the local law enforcement's scramble to identify those responsible for these serial thefts, and that's precisely the way Ignis likes it.

He lets out a thoughtful hum, tapping his index finger against the steering wheel.]

I have some interesting leads marked at home-- there is an election coming up.

[Politics tended to be dirty, and there are a number of candidates who could do with being humbled, put in their place.]

That does sound intriguing. You'll have to tell me more about it later - over drinks?

[ after they've settled in and have properly celebrated tonight's success, of course. for now they can cherish their victory, and steven can admire his new treasure as they drive back home - a lavish private villa kept only for the two of them to use. ]

Drinks sound perfect.

[But they both know that's not what they'll do first.

They're quick to leave the city lights behind without drawing attention to themselves, Ignis ever careful not to do anything that might get them noticed. Soon, they have the road to themselves, a winding black ribbon leading up to that villa in the distance.]
