[ it had been over two months since lillie landed in kanto, and she had been acclimating surprisingly well. she couldn't help but feel a bit proud of herself. before coming, she tried her best to have no expectations — enrolling herself in the indigo league was perhaps at the bottom of her list of expectations, but she'd learned over the past year to anticipate surprises from herself.
she now found herself in cerulean city, a lush and beautiful hub of trainers all gathered to battle the gym leader, misty. she decided she would take her time and pace herself, though — now was the first time she had to really enjoy life in a long time, so she wasn't in any rush, and cerulean city made her oddly homesick, what with the canals of water flowing through the city's infrastructure.
today, she found herself at a cafe overlooking one of said canals, pecking at a parfait. she occasionally passed down a slice of fruit to her new friends — a bulbasaur, given to her by professor oak, and a clefairy she had caught during her (long) time on mount moon. she could easily say that was the brunt of her trip so far, but she had bonded with clefairy quickly, and it reminded her of her mother's clefable. she used to jump on its stomach like a plush trampoline when she was much younger — clefable was happy to do it.
perusing a pamphlet about the city, lillie begins to drift off. her eyes begin to flutter shut as she rests her head on her hand, spoon still in mouth. ]
[ as for steven, this isn't nearly his first time visiting the kanto region. he's already spent plenty of time looking for rare stones in mt.moon, but both his soul-searching journey and renewed interest in mega evolution have brought him back.
cerulean city is fairly close to mt.moon (one can never have enough moon stones), but is also home to cerulean cave, which interests him for obvious reasons. the city itself is ambient and serene; a place for budding trainers to test their potential. as a former champion, that alone makes it an interesting place to stay.
he's enjoying a cup of coffee at the very same cafe that lillie is at, with aron at his side in much the same way that bulbasaur and clefairy are at hers. the difference is that aron is far more curious and prone to straying from her trainer, and steven sees her trotting over to greet the other pokemon. it's then that he sees what he assumes to be their trainer dozing off. he hails down a waitress (who blushes a bit when he asks her to approach) for a request.
lillie will awaken to said waitress approaching her with a cup of hot chocolate to serve. if protested against, she only says that it was paid for by another patron, along with her parfait. how mysterious!
on top of that, a look down will also show that there is an aron that is clearly not hers interacting with her pokemon. even more mysterious! ]
